Job Description
The IT Systems Administrator provides technical support for information systems in areas of product and technical applications. Works with cross-functional IT teams and business sponsors to support IT projects and assists in implementation, creation of procedure documentation, descriptive system and training documentation to improve operations, cross training and overall environment stability. Administers software upgrades, configures and installs new hardware and software, tests and debugs systems, monitors systems for problems, places service calls. Looks for environmental improvement opportunities and builds strong working relationships with other IT members. The System Administrator spends the majority of time ensuring stable operations using monitoring tools, performing regular maintenance activities including patching and ensuring ongoing Disaster Recovery capability.
Experience with Active Directory, SQL Server, SharePoint and Microsoft Internet Information Server, Exchange, BlackBerry and Enterprise Vault administration.
Generate and maintain accurate and timely documentation of the supported platforms as needed.
Operations/Support Related (daily/ongoing job duties):
· Supports and promotes the use of virtualization environments to reduce physical hardware.
· Provides ongoing monitoring and response for systems using monitoring and alerting tools.
· Ensures supporting services are working appropriately (such as dhcp, dns, replication, etc).
· Responsible for routine patching and software maintenance activities during monthly maintenance windows.
· Ensure ongoing compliance and assist in the renewal process for support, maintenance and licenses.
· Ensure ongoing disaster recovery capability.
· Second and/or third shift work could be required during incident resolution and major changes.
· Other duties as assigned
Project Related (as needed):
· Provides IT recommendations to solve business problems when needed.
· Document system dependencies for major upgrades.
· Participates in technical projects.
· Engage vendors to remain current on technologies and vendor roadmaps.
· Occasional travel to assist in upgrades and office moves.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree
· Minimum 5 years experience
· Ability to work in technical environments that use AIX, Red Hat, Windows 2003-2008 R2 and XP/Win7, NetApp and EMC storage.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience with Active Directory, SQL Server, SharePoint and Microsoft Internet Information Server, Exchange, BlackBerry and Enterprise Vault administration.
· Generate and maintain accurate and timely documentation of the supported platforms as needed.
· Must be systems and process oriented, and a self-motivated learner.
· Experience with administering network services such as DNS, syslog, NIS, NFS, LDAP, sendmail, ftp, rsync and SSH.
· Experience with VMWare vSphere, vCenter, and ESX 3.x/4.x+ server.
· Experience with administering enterprise tape backup software and enterprise tape libraries.
· Experience with systems server infrastructure planning, testing, deployment, operations, and maintenance including hardware troubleshooting and installation.
· Experience with capacity planning, utilization, and performance monitoring.
· Experience with enterprise systems monitoring.
· Experience with Exchange 2007 and above and Exchange monitoring tools.
· Experience with Active Directory administration, monitoring, planning, upgrades, inter-org and intra-org migrations.
· Experience with ADMT, ILM, powershell, unified messaging.
· Experience with Symantec products including Enterprise Vault, backup tools and Altiris.
· Experience with Blackberry Enterprise Server
· Relevant Microsoft, VMWare, Symantec, NetApp or EMC certification a plus
Additional Information
This is a full-time salaried position scheduled to work on-site in Draper, UT during regular business hours of 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.
